Description

Deliciously crispy onion ring chips, perfect for snacking or as a party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep your onions by peeling and slicing them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Soak in cold water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Prepare your breading station with whisked eggs in one bowl and a mix of almond flour, parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in another.
  3. Coat the onion rings by dipping them in the egg mixture and then dredging them in the almond flour mixture.
  4. Heat 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the coated onion rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain excess oil on a paper towel-lined plate and sprinkle with salt while hot.
  7. Serve and enjoy fresh, or at room temperature with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For a nut-free version, substitute almond flour with gluten-free bread crumbs. You can also bake these at 425°F for a healthier option.
