Ingredients

- 1 block of firm tofu
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- Oil for frying (or omit for an oil-free option)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Press the tofu by draining it, wrapping it in a towel, and placing a weight on top for 15-30 minutes.
- Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Prepare the sauce by whisking together orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, cornstarch, water, orange zest, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
- Fry the tofu in heated oil for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Combine the sauce with the tofu in the pan and simmer for 3-5 minutes to thicken.
- Plate and serve with optional garnishes like extra orange zest or sesame seeds.
Notes
For an oil-free option, consider baking or air-frying the tofu.
