Description

A delightful dish featuring crispy tofu in a tangy, citrusy orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • Oil for frying (or omit for an oil-free option)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by draining it, wrapping it in a towel, and placing a weight on top for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. Prepare the sauce by whisking together orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, cornstarch, water, orange zest, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
  4. Fry the tofu in heated oil for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  5. Combine the sauce with the tofu in the pan and simmer for 3-5 minutes to thicken.
  6. Plate and serve with optional garnishes like extra orange zest or sesame seeds.

Notes

For an oil-free option, consider baking or air-frying the tofu.
