Ingredients
- Bread: your favorite type (sourdough, white, whole grain, or gluten-free)
- Pizza Sauce: store-bought or homemade
- Mozzarella Cheese: fresh or shredded
- Toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives
- Butter: for brushing over the bread (or olive oil for dairy-free)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or oil.
- Layer slices of bread at the bottom of the dish, slightly overlapping.
- Spread pizza sauce generously over the bread.
- Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Layer more bread on top, followed by another layer of pizza sauce and cheese. Repeat until ingredients are used up.
- Melt butter in the microwave and brush it over the top of the casserole.
- Bake covered with aluminum foil for 30 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
