- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the topping: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1/2 cup of butter, then stir in 1 cup of brown sugar for about 2-3 minutes. Pour into a greased 9-inch round cake pan and add the pecans on top.
- Make the cake batter: Beat 1/2 cup softened butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk. Mix just until combined.
- Pour the cake batter over the pecan topping in the cake pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes, then flip onto a serving plate.
