Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 pound steak (ribeye, flank, or sirloin)
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red, green, or yellow)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups provolone or mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the bread by cutting it in half lengthwise and spreading softened butter and minced garlic on both halves.
  3. Bake the bread for about 10 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  4. Cook the steak in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  5. Sauté onion and peppers in the same skillet for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Assemble the bake with steak slices, sautéed veggies, and shredded cheese on top of the garlic bread.
  7. Return the assembled bake to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Garnish and serve with fresh parsley or extra pepper flakes.
