- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Chop your onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic.
- Heat the oil: In a skillet, heat your vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Sauté the sausage: Add the sliced smoked sausage and sauté for about 5 minutes.
- Add the veggies: Toss in the diced onion, bell pepper, and celery; sauté for another 3-4 minutes.
- Incorporate garlic: Add the minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds.
- Season it up: Sprinkle in the Cajun spice mix, salt, and pepper; mix well.
- Add the rice: Pour in the long-grain rice and stir to coat.
- Pour the broth: Add the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle boil.
- Simmer and cover: Reduce heat to low, cover, and allow to simmer for about 20-25 minutes.
- Fluff and serve: Check if all the liquid has been absorbed, fluff the rice, and let it rest for a minute.
