- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 10 oz marshmallows (mini or regular)
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Cooking spray or parchment paper (for the pan)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by spraying a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until fully melted.
- Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Color the mixture by dividing it evenly into three bowls. One remains plain, add red food coloring to the second, and blue to the third.
- Combine 2 cups of Rice Krispies into each colored marshmallow mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- Layer the bars starting with the white mixture, then the blue, and finally the red, leveling each layer.
- Let the bars set at room temperature for about 30 minutes or in the refrigerator for quicker setting.
- Cut the bars into squares and serve on a festive platter.
Notes
These bars can be made a day or two in advance. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
