Description

A classic and heartwarming Southern Peach Cobbler with sweet peaches and a buttery, flaky crust.


Ingredients

  • Fresh Peaches (6–8 medium)
  • Granulated Sugar (3/4 cup)
  • Brown Sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Ground Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
  • Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
  • All-Purpose Flour (1 cup)
  • Baking Powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Milk (1 cup)
  • Unsalted Butter (1/2 cup, melted)
  • Vanilla Extract (1 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash, peel, and slice your fresh peaches. In a medium bowl, mix the peaches with ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ¼ cup of brown sugar. Whisk them all together.
  4. Slowly stir in the milk and melted butter. Mix until just combined.
  5. In a greased baking dish, pour the batter in evenly. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter, allowing some of the juices to flow on top.
  6. Pop the dish into the preheated oven and bake for about 45–50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and slightly crispy.
  7. Once out of the oven, let it cool for at least 15 minutes. Serve it warm.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful finish.
