Description

A whimsical culinary creation that combines the traditional flavors of sushi into a delightful bundt cake, perfect for gatherings and kitchen experiments.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked crab meat or imitation crab
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup avocado, diced
  • Nori sheets, for decoration
  • Soy sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sushi Rice: Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice with 2½ cups of water in a saucepan, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes. Let it cool.
  2. Season the Rice: Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl, then gently fold this mixture into cooled rice.
  3. Prepare the Bundt Pan: Lightly oil or spray your bundt pan to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer the Ingredients: Place half of seasoned sushi rice in the bundt pan, pressing firmly. Layer cream cheese, crab meat, cucumber, and avocado. Top with remaining rice and press down.
  5. Set the Bundt Cake: Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Unmold the Cake: Run a knife around edges to loosen, flip onto a serving plate, and tap the pan if necessary.
  7. Decorate: Cut nori sheets into strips and place on top of the sushi bundt.
  8. Serve: Slice and drizzle soy sauce over, serving with extra sauce on the side.

Notes

Serve with a garnish of sesame seeds and microgreens for an elegant touch.
