Description

Delightful homemade cinnamon scones that bring the aroma of a bakery right into your kitchen, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk (or a dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup homemade cinnamon butter
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the chilled butter: Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk: Make a well in the center and gently mix until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough: Turn it out onto a floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick circle.
  6. Cut into triangles: Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8 equal triangles and transfer to a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Make the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Cool and glaze the scones: Let them cool slightly before drizzling with glaze.

Notes

Serve warm with additional cinnamon butter or jam. These scones can be frozen unbaked and baked directly from frozen.
