A decadent breakfast combining creamy custard and warm French toast, finished with a crispy caramelized sugar topping.
Ingredients

- 4 slices of thick bread (brioche, challah, or sourdough)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Butter for cooking
- Brown sugar for topping
Instructions
- Whisk the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl until frothy.
- Soak the bread slices in the custard mixture for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a tablespoon of butter until it bubbles slightly.
- Cook the soaked bread slices for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden-brown and crispy.
- Caramelize the brown sugar on top of the cooked toast using a kitchen torch until bubbly and crispy.
- Serve immediately, allowing the caramelized sugar to cool for a minute before enjoying.
Notes
For variations, try using Hawaiian bread, folding in berries, or adding cocoa powder for a chocolate twist. Serve with maple syrup or fresh fruits for garnish.
