Description

An easy and flavorful Cajun Sausage Pasta recipe that combines smoked sausage, colorful peppers, and creamy sauce for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz Pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 12 oz Smoked Sausage (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 Bell Pepper (diced)
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 3 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 can (14 oz) Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Reserve about ½ cup of water before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the sliced smoked sausage for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper, sautéing for 3-4 minutes, then stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Sprinkle in Cajun seasoning and sauté for another minute.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Lower the heat, add heavy cream, and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Mix in shredded cheese until melted. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Toss in cooked pasta, coating it in sauce. Heat through for another minute before serving.

Notes

Add a splash of lemon juice for brightness. Serve topped with fresh parsley or chives.
