- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a 9-inch round cake pan over low heat. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbly.
- Arrange the pecans on top of the caramel.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Cream the granulated sugar and eggs in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the egg mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
- Add the vanilla extract to the batter.
- Pour the batter over the pecans in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate.
Notes
Dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving and add a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
