Description

A legendary Southern dessert featuring sweet peaches wrapped in a buttery, flaky crust.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the sliced peaches with half of the sugar (1/2 cup) and let sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Melt the butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish in the oven.
  4. Whisk together flour, remaining sugar (1/2 cup), baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. Spoon the peaches and their syrup over the batter.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  8. Cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
