Description
These Spider Brownies are crawling with fun! Rich, fudgy squares are topped with adorable (or terrifying!) chocolate spiders made from candies and frosting. With double the servings and extra spooky twists, they’re perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or just a frightfully fun baking session at home.
Ingredients
2 boxes brownie mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as listed)
½ tsp vanilla extract (adds depth)
½ cup chocolate chips (optional for gooey centers)
24 chocolate truffles or round candies (for spider bodies)
Black licorice strings or pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate (for legs)
Black gel icing or melted chocolate (for attaching and decorating)
Candy eyes or mini chocolate chips (for eyes)
Optional: edible glitter or colored sugar for extra spooky sparkle
Instructions
Preheat oven to brownie mix instructions. Grease a 9×13-inch pan (or two 8×8 pans).
Mix brownie batter, stirring in vanilla and chocolate chips if using.
Pour into pan(s) and bake as directed. Let cool completely.
Cut brownies into 24 squares.
Place one chocolate truffle or candy ball on top of each brownie as the spider body.
Add legs: insert small licorice or pretzel sticks (4 per side) into the sides of the truffle.
Use gel icing to attach candy eyes or mini chocolate chips. Add mouth or fangs if desired.
Optional: Sprinkle with edible glitter or serve on a plate of “web” (spun sugar or cotton candy).
