Description

Soft Fried Buns are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect as a snack, sandwich, or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 150 ml lukewarm milk
  • 70 ml lukewarm water
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 12 g honey
  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g salt
  • 30 g unsalted butter (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a medium bowl, mix the lukewarm milk, lukewarm water, instant yeast, and honey. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In another large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Combine wet and dry mixtures: Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Incorporate the butter: Add the room-temperature butter and mix until the dough is smooth, kneading for about 5–7 minutes.
  5. First rise: Lightly oil another bowl, place the dough inside, cover it, and let it rise for about 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the buns: Punch down the dough, divide it into equal pieces, and shape them into small round balls.
  7. Second rise: Cover the buns with a towel, letting them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Fry the buns: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, add dough balls in batches, and fry until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  9. Drain and cool: Transfer the buns to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Notes

Serve warm with dips, as sliders, or with fresh fruits. Experiment with fillings for a twist!
