Ingredients
- Beef Brisket (3-5 lbs)
- Onions (2 large, sliced)
- Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
- Beef Broth (1 cup)
- Soy Sauce (1/2 cup)
- Brown Sugar (2 tablespoons)
- Smoked Paprika (1 tablespoon)
- Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Bay Leaves (2)
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the brisket and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Optional: Sear the brisket on all sides in a large skillet over medium heat until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side).
- Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Add minced garlic on top of the onions.
- Carefully place the brisket on the onions and spoon some onions atop the meat.
- In a separate bowl, mix the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, pepper, and bay leaves.
- Pour the mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
- Check for doneness by shredding the beef easily with two forks.
- Remove the brisket and allow it to rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
- Serve sliced against the grain.
