Sloppy Joe Casserole

Description

This Sloppy Joe Casserole takes the messy, saucy classic and turns it into a hearty, family-style bake. With layers of seasoned ground beef in a tangy tomato sauce, topped with cheesy goodness and golden biscuits (or pasta, if you like), it’s comforting, filling, and perfect for weeknight dinners. Think of it as the ultimate twist on an American favorite—less messy, but just as delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 small onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp chili powder

Salt & pepper, to taste

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits or 8 oz pasta (cooked al dente)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until meat is browned; drain excess fat.

Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5–7 minutes.

Spread beef mixture in baking dish. Top with cheese.

If using biscuits: arrange on top of casserole. If using pasta: mix pasta into beef mixture, then sprinkle with cheese.

Bake 20–25 minutes, until biscuits are golden or cheese is melted and bubbly.

Rest 5 minutes before serving.
