Description

A flavor-packed dish combining rich ground beef and delightful noodles for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Begin by cooking your linguine according to the package directions. Make sure you don’t overcook them; you want them al dente to retain a lovely bite. Drain and set aside. Here’s a tip: toss the drained noodles with a little olive oil to prevent them from sticking together!
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat your pan on medium-high heat and add your ground beef. Use a wooden spoon to crumble and cook it until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Here’s my secret: resisting the urge to stir too much allows those beautiful browned bits to form at the bottom of your pan, adding an excellent depth of flavor!
  3. Add the Garlic: Once the beef is browned, toss in your minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it; burnt garlic can turn bitter, and nobody wants that in their dish!
  4. Mix in the Sauces: Now it’s time to add your brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, and black pepper to the pan. Stir everything together, ensuring the beef is coated with the saucy goodness. Allow this mixture to come to a gentle simmer, letting the flavors meld beautifully together (about 2-3 minutes will do).
  5. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet, stirring immediately to incorporate it into the sauce. You’ll notice the sauce thickening up nicely! Let it simmer for another couple of minutes—this is the perfect time to taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  6. Combine with Noodles: Now for the fun part! Add your cooked noodles to the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are fully coated in the delicious sauce. If needed, add a splash more beef broth or soy sauce to loosen it up!
  7. Garnish and Serve: Turn off the heat, and dish it up. Garnish your impressive creation with fresh green onion slices for that delightful crunch and pop of color.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with plant-based grounds.
