Description

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of pasta (e.g., penne or spaghetti)
  • 2 cups of broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil water: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook pasta: Once boiling, add your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Add broccoli: When there are about 4 minutes left on the pasta timer, add in the broccoli florets.
  4. Check doneness: When the pasta is done, reserve about a cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
  5. Sauté garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  6. Combine & toss: Add your drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together gently.
  7. Season: Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Add cheese: Finally, if you’re using Parmesan, sprinkle it over the top and toss until evenly coated.
  9. Garnish & serve: Plate your dish, and for a final touch, add a sprinkle of fresh basil.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, consider nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan cheese.
