Description
A simple, flavor-packed pasta dish with tender broccoli, garlic, and olive oil, perfect for a quick weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of pasta (e.g., penne or spaghetti)
- 2 cups of broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil water: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook pasta: Once boiling, add your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Add broccoli: When there are about 4 minutes left on the pasta timer, add in the broccoli florets.
- Check doneness: When the pasta is done, reserve about a cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
- Sauté garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.
- Combine & toss: Add your drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together gently.
- Season: Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add cheese: Finally, if you’re using Parmesan, sprinkle it over the top and toss until evenly coated.
- Garnish & serve: Plate your dish, and for a final touch, add a sprinkle of fresh basil.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, consider nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan cheese.
