Description

Delicious crispy wonton-wrapped shrimp filled with savory flavors and perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 package Wonton wrappers
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger, grated
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying (neutral oil recommended)
  • Chili flakes, to taste
  • Cheese (cream cheese or cheddar, to taste)
  • Fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley, to taste)
  • Chopped vegetables (bell peppers or carrots, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Shrimp Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine your peeled, deveined shrimp, minced garlic, chopped green onions, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. If you choose to add cheese, herbs, or vegetables, this is the time to toss them in too!
  2. Assemble the Wontons: Get your wonton wrappers ready! Lay out on a clean surface. Take one wrapper, and place about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp mixture in the center. Wet your finger and trace the edges of the wrapper with water to help seal it later. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle. Press the edges together tightly to seal.
  3. Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or wok, pour in enough oil to submerge the wontons (about 2 inches deep). Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Wontons: Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Achieve Perfect Crispness: Continue frying the remaining wontons in batches, ensuring the oil temperature stays consistent.
  6. Serve Up: Arrange your crispy wontons on a serving platter, garnishing with some fresh herbs or chili flakes on top for added flair.

Notes

Make sure to chop everything finely for even flavor distribution. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
