Ingredients

4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp finely chopped onion
¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

5 carrots, chopped
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 lb lean ground beef or lamb
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp ketchup
¾ cup beef broth
¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese (for topping)
Instructions
Boil Potatoes: Cook potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and mash with butter, chopped onion, and ¼ cup cheddar. Season to taste.
Prep the Filling: In a skillet, heat oil. Sauté onion and carrots until soft. Add ground meat, cook until browned.
Make the Sauce: Stir in flour, then ketchup and beef broth. Simmer until thickened.
Assemble: Spread meat mixture in a baking dish. Layer mashed potatoes on top. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup cheddar.
Bake: Broil or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden.
