Description
Tender, juicy pulled chicken slow cooked in a rich, tangy barbecue sauce that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup Italian dressing
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prep your chicken: Trim any visible fat from the chicken breasts and place them at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Mix the sauces: In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Adjust to your taste.
- Season it up: Pour the sauce over the chicken, then toss in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well coated.
- Slow cook to perfection: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for about 4 hours.
- Shred the chicken: Remove it from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
- Recombine with sauce: Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce, letting it sit for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Serve it up: Enjoy your pulled chicken on sliders, tacos, or over rice!
Notes
For vegetarian options, try using jackfruit instead of chicken. Feel free to explore flavor variations by adding spices or other sauces.
