Apple Crisp with Brown Sugar Oat Topping

  • Author: Jackson Walker

  • Yield: 6 1x

Description

Warm, tender apples baked under a golden, buttery oat topping—this apple crisp is the ultimate fall dessert. It’s easy, cozy, and made for scooping straight from the dish (with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream, of course).

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apple Filling:

6 medium apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp flour (to thicken)

For the Crisp Topping:

¾ cup rolled oats

¾ cup brown sugar

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

½ tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and flour. Spread evenly in the baking dish.

In another bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.

Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples.

Bake for 40–45 minutes until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown.

Let cool slightly and serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
